Hello frnds, today's post is about the Internet Giant and my dream company... Well, no prize for guessing because we all know it's none other than Google. Though this is a quite interesting news yet it may disappoint many people who love Google products and more importantly it may upset those who are used to the name of Google products.
Well, the news is that Google is going to retire its several non-Google name brands and rename them as Google products. Cognizant says that this move is a part of Google's effort to unify its brand for the launch of its most ambitious social product Google+. The products which may come under this renovation are Picasa and Blogger and according to the sources, Google is planning to rename them as Google Photos and Google Blogs respectively. Though there are several other Google brands which comes under this policy of Google (you guessed it right, i am talking about YouTube) but sources have made it clear that YouTube is not going to be renamed as Google already shut down its failed video product in May named as Google video.
The move isn’t without precedent; Google acquired JotSpot in 2006 and rebranded it as Google Sites in 2008. In 2007, Google acquired VOIP platform GrandCentral and relaunched it as Google Voice in 2009.
Well, i think it makes sense for Picasa and Blogger as they both are social products and it will also help Google to integrate these products completely in the Google+ which may yield very positive results as everyone loves the ease of getting everything together at one place.
Well, that was my point of view but your comments are awaited.
